I created "Voices of Boston's Chinatown" in my Design for Social Change class at the SMFA  in 2021 after learning about the long history of gentrification and modernization happening in Boston's Chinatown. Having just moved from St. Louis, Missouri, a place with no official Chinatown, this information filled me with a sense of urgency as I always imagined Chinatowns as symbols of a city's strong and present Asian population. Wanting to do more research on the matter and shed light on it, I designed a campaign consisting of zines made from Adobe Illustrator and Procreate with snippets of interviews I conducted with Chinatown residents and activists. My dad also made Chinese translations for the texts. I also made a simple website for the project to promote it to a wider audience online. My zine with my interviewee Cynthia Yee's story now resides in the Tufts Asian American Center's zine library.
